This is one of the very few days on the walk when I didn’t take a single snap, either on my phone or on my compact camera. The pictures you see here capture the place as I remember it.
09:33: Up and showered, shaved, clothes wash on. I’m about to have breakfast. It’s a sunny day with a slight breeze. My wash will be ready at 10:20.
14:50: Spectacular weather. Clothes washed and dried. I’ve spent the morning reading in the café and having a dip. I might have another shortly. It’s an amazing way to cool off. I’m having a Skype chat with my siblings at 17:00.

19:25: Almost two and a half hours of calls with the siblings1, David2 and Aisling. I can’t wait to see Aisling. Just 12 more days and we’ll meet in Zagreb.
21:23: Pizza and chips for dinner. Getting into bed.
Just three days earlier, our ninety-two year old mum had gone into respite care at a nursing home she’d selected, after years of support from my eldest sister.↩
My brother David had arranged to meet me in Zagreb. Our plan was for him to join me for a few days on the walk into the Croatian countryside.↩
