10:00 I woke at 07:30 or so, listening for my hostess to finish in the bathroom. I’d stayed up far too late reading Hacker News. I’d also spent most of the evening on Telegram with Aisling, helping her to set up her phone, which had been reset. Yesterday evening I ate in an OK Turkish restaurant. I paid about €13.00 for spinach pide, excellent mixed salad, three Turkish teas, an Apfelschorle and three pieces of baklava. Then I walked home. My AirBnB host is particularly joyless and it’s been pouring outside but I think I’m ready to head out for breakfast and do some tasks and sightseeing. I still need to negotiate to have my laundry washed by my hostess.
10:56: Posted two maps to Mamma (€7.00) and had a breakfast roll and a cup of hot chocolate (€4.50). Next I’m going to exchange the map I bought yesterday that I don’t need. After that, I’ll climb the cathedral spire. The sun’s come out now, thankfully. I might head back to the apartment and hang out my basha to dry — it’s saturated.

11:41: I hung out the basha to dry on my hostess’ sunless balcony. There’s a decent breeze though. I’ve tied it down so it doesn’t blow away. My hostess is also thawing out a bit. I’ve now stopped for a second breakfast on my way into town.

15:18: I’m pretty zapped but I’ve climbed the tower and enjoyed the views, had a leisurely (€8.00) lunch and exchanged the superfluous map. I’m now going to the Rathaus and Marktplatz for some desultory sightseeing. I’ve bookmarked an Indian restaurant for dinner.

17:34: I’ve been sitting in the museum restaurant for probably a couple of hours, nursing a cup of tea. (I got Earl Grey when I asked for black tea so I dropped in one of the Barry’s teabags Aisling brought last month. I’ve got into the habit of carrying them in my day pack.)
I’m about to walk back to my AirBnB in Neu-Ulm now. My phone battery is completely flat. I spent a fair bit of time in the last couple of hours catching up on testing chatter on Twitter. I’m only going back to the AirBnB to pack away my basha before it gets destroyed by the wind, then I’ll head back into town. I was very drowsy when I arrived in the museum café, but I’ve revived now. I’m not sure what to have for dinner. I’m tempted by Indian, but maybe a simple mixed salad in a Turkish restaurant might be all I need. In any case, I’m really enjoying having extended time to read. Oh yes, I also got back to Amazon to request a refund on the product that got bounced back to them because of their bogus address validation.
