In the early days of this trip I was a bit remiss in including information in my notebook about the places I passed through or stopped in; I had the map in my hand, after all, dammit! I’ll flesh this information out later. Remember, all of these posts are in a constant state of revision as I undertake the journey.
I’m in a forest between Agavannagh and the Ow river. It was mild and dry all night. There are some light spits of rain now. I had hot porridge for breakfast and now I’m eating Maasdam on rye bread.
I got a blister on my right heel either early yesterday or late the day before. I’ve washed one pair of socks. They dried during the afternoon. It’s 07:51 now and I really need to finish breakfast, break camp and get back on the road.
08:33 Packed, socks washed, heading back down to the road.

10:18 The road is dry, but the sky is still overcast. Making good time to Aughrim.
10:28 Stopped, bag off, Halva break. My God that stuff is good.

11:07 Aughrim. Suffering. (I arrived in Aughrim at 14:10 last time.)
11:34:27
11:53 Leaving Aughrim limping.
13:36 Stopped for a quick rest and a slurp of water. Really feeling it in the legs. Would’ve missed my turn again except I checked the GPS. It’s paid for its fare now even though it’s exceptionally annoying to use.
14:21:39
14:40 Really suffering. Stopped to eat half the egg mayo roll I bought in Aughrim. Blister care.
14:34 Moving again. Motherfucker. Beautiful sunny day.
15:00 Passed the Coillte forest where I slept on the track in the rain.
15:08:45
15:19 Crossroads.

17:36 Knocked on the door of a farmhouse. Spoke to Margot who rang her husband the farmer, who gave me permission to camp!
17:44 Looking for a suitable spot.
17:50:17
18:24 Set up in the corner of a field - last wizz then into bed! Oh and the rest of my egg sandwich.
