07:17 Up and out of bed. Sweaty quilt, but the room is warmer today.
07:54 A third-generation blister on the pad of my right foot burst spontaneously as I was inspecting the pad. Washed immediately with warm water.
08:14:15: My Bed and Breakfast had a cartoon map of Europe on the wall. Here’s the journey across France…
08:14:47: …across Southern Germany and into Austria…
08:15:00
08:56:23: …and over the Alps and into the Balkans, as far as Central Serbia. I didn’t know it when I photographed this, but months from now, I’d walk through the town of Kragujevac, right on the bottom right edge of the photo.
09:10 Quick Telegram chat with Aisling. I’ve eaten a stunning full Irish with toast, brown bread and a hot scone lathered with marmalade.
09:19:00
09:46 Aisling and Úna are arriving in a few minutes.
11:55 Arrived at Kelly’s Hotel with Aisling after a really interesting chat with her and Una at a coffee shop near Úna’s house. My feet at still very sore.
13:14 Lunch in Kelly’s Hotel bistro. There’s something nauseating about the clientele at Kelly’s.1
14:25 Set out for the ferry terminal on foot after Aisling dropped me back to the gate of the B&B in Kilrane.
15:57 Goodbyes at the terminal and before boarding the bus to the boat. Huge smiles and hugs all around.
16:16 On board, bought the Rough Guide French Phrasebook for €7.50.
16:32 Toured the boat - there’s only one passenger deck! I’m in the lounge. I’ll peruse my new Rough Guide for a bit and then see if I can get the wi-fi working.

17:06:25
17:06:51
17:12 Out on deck to watch Ireland recede.
17:27 Let’s get the camera snaps onto my phone.

18:45 Okay, that works, but the internet on the boat is slow.
18:57 Let’s find the restaurant. I’ll charge my phone and bring my book.
19:14 Lying on my bunk. I am so not having dinner. Had to step out on deck to settle my stomach. Lying down is fine.
19:28:56
19:30:28
20:24 Decided to switch to CET.
20:44 I’m shattered. I’m going to get undressed and go to sleep. The mat is belatedly drying in the en-suite.
Why I considered it necessary to make this observation rather then writing about enjoying a last meal together with Aisling is beyond me.↩
