07:51: It’s a cool, misty morning. I slept exceptionally well with my earplugs in, zipped up in my bag. It was moderately cool all night so I wasn’t too warm. I woke at 07:02 but decided to lie on for a bit. I’m going to shower now and break camp. Figuring out what to do with my damp clothes is a chore. I put my earplugs in at bedtime so I wasn’t disturbed by anything.
08:34: I’m having breakfast in the nearby coffee shop in KAUFLAND. Under €5.00 for shit roll with cheese and ham and tea. Roll inedible.
09:21: Walking back to the campsite to break camp.
12:09: On the road. I made a washing line in the sun from my poles and spare lines to dry my t-shirt and jocks. Charged my phone and read and chatted to Simone, on her bike cycling from the Netherlands to the Italian Dolomites over six weeks.

12:47: Out of Sigmaringen. I’m sorry I didn’t get to see more of the town yesterday because of the torrential downpour. I’ve walked around the imposing castle via the river and now I’m heading to Sigmaringendorf, just a few kilometres beyond.
13:21: Entering Sigmaringendorf. I’d like some lunch. It’s sunny and a bit breezy, but very muggy. The rainclouds forecast for the afternoon are piling up to the West.
13:35: At the Turkish in Sigmaringendorf. I had to cross the bridge into the town but it was only a detour of 600m or so to find the Turkish. I’m having a falafel plate with chips and mixed salad for €7.50 plus €1.50 for the coke.
14:10: Downloaded the updates to the guidebook I’m using: very useful. I’ve phoned one of the cheap Privatzimmern in Ennetach/Mengen but I got the answering machine. I didn’t leave a message. I’ll call. Paying up for the food and moving on.
14:52: Entering Scheer.
15:34: Leaving Scheer.
16:02: In Ennetach, just before Mengen. There’s no answer at the Privatzimmer.
16:27: €49 for a Pension1 — she said try Hotel Bayer on the way to the railway station. €38. Heading there now.
16:33: Leaving Ennetach.
16:57: In the hotel. It’s right next to the railway station. Perfectly pleasant.
18:00: I’m washed and dressed, toenails clippered. Now I’m going to sit on the terrace with a book. Maybe I’ll have a drink.
18:49: Cheese sandwich dinner from Norma for €6.42. Sat on a bench on a grassy spot near a roundabout around the corner from the hotel, listening to podcasts.
I just started looking around for places to stay. “She” is the lady at the Pension.↩
