08:23: Awake at 07:08. I’m washed and dressed now, including some time to manage hosted services online. It’s highly unsatisfactory managing them from my phone. Packing up now. I’ll get breakfast in town.
09:02: On the road. Still need to get breakfast.
09:31: Posted excess socks and maps to Aisling. €6.49.
09:44: Sitting down to breakfast. Porridge would have been quicker! €7.00.
09:46:40
10:05: Moving again. Heading for the bike trail. Today’s destination is a campsite just short of Beuron.1
10:15: 25 km to Beuron says a sign. I’m on the left bank of the river. I’ve dumped two of the four litres of water I was carrying.
10:24: Putting on headphones. I’m walking next to a busy road. I have socks drying on my poles (the daily routine) and a pair of jocks and my microfibre mini-towel drying on the back of my bag.
10:33: Moving again.
10:42:01
10:48: Exiting Tuttlingen.
11:00: Headphones off. Walking beside a little-used rail line on the valley floor. Low wooded hills to the left and right.
11:07: The wildflower meadows are beautiful — yellows, light purple, light green, white.
11:55: Through Nendingen. The weather is sunny with scattered clouds. There’s not a breath of wind.

We’re in Munich and Prien am Chiemsee
13:00: Chat with Jennie and Christian on their tandem. hotshowers.org.
13:08: The bakery in Stetten is closed. On to Mülheim. There’s a nice breeze now. The Lidl factor 50 is a bit shit. UVA only. White paste.
13:12: Leaving Stetten.
13:33: Stopped for lunch at a simple “Bistro” in Mülheim. €5.00 for a plate of salad (mostly shredded cabbage, shredded carrot and shredded carrot and cabbage with a piece of bread and a rote, basically a squishy frankfurter which looked appetising but tasted less so.)
13:46: Moving again.

17:15: Beuron comes into view. I’m looking good to get to the youth hostel by 19:30.
17:25:47
17:58: It’s been raining lightly frrom a blue sky for a while now. I’m 900m as the crow flies from the youth hostel.
18:50: Sitting down to eat dinner at the youth hostel! It was a tough 40-minute climb up steep wooded slopes along very rough, narrow, stony paths. The castle is a solid affair with a high drawbridge. It’s very imposing. I’m gonna eat now.
19:44: Catching the last rays of the sun in the courtyard. I’m pretty chuffed with today’s progress. Sigmaringen is looking quite doable tomorrow. The hike back down the hill back to the trail will wake me up!
20:18: I’ve retired to my six-bed dorm. I seem to be the only resident. The place is also full of screaming children.
21:07: I’m going to get into bed. I’m whacked and mu feet ache. I have a long one in store tomorrow. Thankfully I’m already some kilometres past Beuron.
It’s worth noticing how often I’ll express an intent or desire at some point during the day and events will unfold differently.↩
