I’d been wearing the same brand and model of walking shoe in size 44 for two years, but walking six or more hours a day in them killed both of the nails on my big toes. They’d become bruised early on in the walk, but I didn’t yet know how bad the damage was, only that I needed more room for my toes. I’d chosen this particular brand and model because they were good quality for the price and very popular, so I knew I’d be able to buy the same model anywhere in Europe. That allowed me to dispense with the inefficiency of having to become used to shoes from different manufacturers with differing fits.↩
